First reboot with the Radeon 570 and Mojave the TV went right to 4K and nobody could read a damn thing under those tiny desktop icons on the 55" TV hah. Its the first thing the Mojave installer makes you do no matter what. Had absolutely no problem getting the firmware upgrade to run and take. There is very little boot time value in going NVMe for the boot drive.My Mac Pro was connected to our 4K Fire TV when I did the upgrade, and I was still using HDDs at the time, 100% HFS+. If updating from High Sierra, make sure it's APFS, and not HFS+, otherwise the BootROM update won't work. The BootROM update won't work if there's a 4k-capable display attached. I own a 12-core 5,1 running Catalina with an AMD 5700XT, and a 6-core with Mojave running a home-flashed HIS 7950 (sort of a Radeon HD 7950).
